From the Christian perspective, homosexuality is a sin. There's more to consider here than just the moral point of view, though. It's important to consider the effects of gay marriage on our society. It's obvious by just looking at the design of men and women that the two were created for each other. The fact that procreation can only take place between a man and a woman is a definite indicator. Children need both a male and female parent. Each has a dinstinct important role in the development of an emotionally healthy child. Gay couples cannot conceive children on their own. Many seek to have families through medical intervention or adoption. Most will not have children at all. Thus, the degradation of the American family which affects us all. I have gay friends and respect their rights as individuals. I do not, however, believe gay couples should have legally recognized marriages.

Its a legal matter, not a religious matter.

I am not gay, but what the heck is so wrong with letting two people that love each other be married??

I never have and never will have a problem with it, if they wanna be gay, let em be gay. If they love one another, leave em be, they can't help the feelings that they have for each other, and some may say they can, but if they are in love, its impossible. Some say you're born gay, others say you aren't, you're just brought up that way or something. To me some people that turn out to be gay is because the lack of a father figure in their lives, or the overage of womanly attention and being around them. I say some are born gay myself, and other's not...anyways, i say let em get married

You can call people "Bible pushers" or whatever. Christians are commanded to proclaim God's Word which is what the Bible is.

Getting married at the courthouse isn't a "religious" experience but marriage that is instituted by God is. He himself is the One that instituted marriage when He proclaimed to Adam and Eve that a man would leave his parents and he would become one flesh with his wife.

So if it's ok for 2 homosexuals that"love" each other to get married then if a pedophile and a child love each other they should get married too? And before you get in a uproar, that my friend is next. Mark my words. NAMBLA would like nothing more than to see America so de-sensitized as to push this through the courts. There is already talk of challenging the "age of consent" laws.

Ya better check , Va trails badly in the "law " part. And making an issue the size of Rhode Island out of gays marrying, just makes the real world harder to deal with. I guess if we had got'em all in the Salem witch trails this wouldn't happen. If you spend all your time fighting gays how much do you have left to deal with the rest ? Like the story in the local paper about the little girl whose daddy was going to Iraq for his second deployment. Who is screwing who? I hear the dollars rolling into Texas. Which is the greater evil?

Like i have said to each their own.
What some of you are learning with topics like these.
Is life. Things you don't discuss at the adult level that lead to huge arguments in some circles.
Religion and Politics are always two hot items. And all can be intertwined.
They create what you have going on here. Debate and sometimes people getting angry.
As for me folks can do what they want. And they will whether your for it or against it.

Like I said before, I have a homosexual friend and that's how it's gonna be...no matter how he decides to live his life, he'll still be my friend...but I just think we need to be careful what we begin accepting...
I mean, many people attribute the fall of the Roman and Greek empires to homosexuality and a lack of morals...Look at Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible. When this land lost all of its moral values, God destroyed it....I'm not saying that God is going to destroy America, by any means, I just think we need to watch what me make acceptable...
